Posture Therapy

Posture Therapy — Vivacare Advanced Physiotherapy

Posture analysis & therapy takes an integrated approach of your body posture as an intricately connected system from head to toe and addresses asymmetries throughout your system. Asymmetry in your body structure may lead to skeletal misalignments such as joint elevations, spinal rotations, or muscle imbalances that create excess stress in the body with movement. This extra stress can lead to joint degeneration, tissue breakdown, inflammation, pain and injury.

At Vivacare, we have developed a custom posture grid specifically as per Indian body dimensions. Coupled with a plumb line, this grid assists our physiotherapists in doing a precise and accurate analysis of your existing posture.

We discuss your posture with you, highlight the deviations and assess the root cause of the postural issues. Thereafter, we guide you about the near term & long term impacts of such issues and discuss the options available if an intervention in required.

Based on your individual posture analysis, the Posture therapy may include restorative postures, corrective exercises, and stretching positions to reposition the body, strengthen correct posture and function, reduce muscle tension, enhance efficiency, and increase ease of movement.

What to Expect During Your Session

You’ll be assessed standing against our custom posture grid from multiple angles, which helps identify specific asymmetries. Your therapist will then walk you through the findings and design a plan of corrective exercises and habit changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can posture really be changed as an adult?

Yes — while some structural factors are fixed, most postural patterns are muscular and habitual, and respond well to targeted strengthening, stretching and awareness training at any age.

How long does posture correction take?

You may notice awareness and small changes within weeks, but lasting postural change typically takes consistent practice over a few months.

Is posture therapy only useful for back pain?

No — postural imbalances can also contribute to neck pain, headaches and shoulder issues, so posture therapy is often relevant well beyond just the back.

Can children benefit from a posture assessment?

Yes — catching postural habits early, especially related to heavy school bags or prolonged device use, can help prevent problems from becoming established later.

How is desk posture specifically addressed?

Your therapist will review your typical desk setup and daily habits alongside the physical assessment, so the corrective plan reflects real-world sitting time, not just the exercises alone.
